Superbowl! Football! Ads! Beer! Food! And coffee??

Yes, coffee. Coffee is great for Superbowl parties and not just to drink either.

When you think of classic game day eats, the first thing that comes to mind is chicken wings. Beautifully spicy but not too hot, this coffee rubbed chicken wing is savory and sweet with a nicely caffeinated kick (or not if you prefer our decaf )

Here's how they are created

Nerdfuel's Coffee Rubbed Chicken Wings

What You'll Need

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 cup brewedNerdfuel coffee of your choice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 2 1/2 tbsp finely ground Nerdfuel coffee
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

How It's Done

  • Place chicken wings in a large baking dish and cover with brewed coffee. Add the bay leaf cover and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least four hours.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a baking rack on top.
  • Drain wings and pat dry
  • In a mixing bowl combine all remaining spices. Toss wings in the mixture until they are all evenly coated.
  • Arrange wings on baking rack.

  • Cook for 20 minutes.
  • Remove baking tray from oven and brush wings with half of the maple syrup. Return wings to oven and cook for 15-20 minutes more. Before serving brush cooked wings with remaining maple syrup.

Nerdfuel Coffee Nuts

Beer nuts are another gameday classic, but we happen to think that coffee nuts are even better. You can use any of our great Nerdfuel coffee flavors to create these nuts, but we happen to be very fond of the sweet but robust results you get by making use of ourSnowfall - Cinnamon Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee.

What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground Nerdfuel coffee
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups whole mixed nuts of your choice

How It's Done

  • Preheat your oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with foil
  • In a saucepan combine water, coffee honey and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove from heat; stir in nuts until completely coated. Spread in single layer over prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 5 minutes, stir and then return to the oven and bake for ten minutes more.
  • Cool nuts on baking sheet before adding to bowls and serving.

Homemade Cold Brew Nerdfuel Coffee

Cold brew is all the rage right now, but if you opt for store bought - or the stuff served up by the local coffee shop - it isn't cheap. Fortunately great cold brew is easy to make at home and it's perfect for Superbowl.

Why? Taste aside, the fact is that most of us still have to go to work on Monday morning, and so lots of beer on a Sunday night is often a terrible idea. And a beautifully brewed cup of Nerdfuel cold brew is a wonderful reward for the designated drivers too.

You don't need any special equipment to make cold brew coffee - and lots of it - at home, just time, great coffee, good water and patience.

What You'll Need

  • Good coffee. Whole bean is best, but ground is fine too. Any Nerdfuel blend works great.
  • A coffee grinder (if you are making use of whole bean coffee)
  • Filtered water
  • A large pitcher(s)
  • Strainer
  • Clean towel

How It's Done

  • Grind/measure 1 1/2 cups of ground Nerdfuel coffee
  • Add six cups of water and mix well
  • Refrigerate for 24 hours
  • After 24 hours the cold brew is ready to filter. Line the strainer with the towel and pour.

Technically, as you have created 'coffee concentrate' many people say you should mix 1 part water with one part cold brew coffee before drinking. Personally we prefer to add 1 cup of concentrate to a glass with lots of ice, but we'll leave it to you to experiment.

As is the case for any cold coffee you can add milk, creamer or sugar to taste. This recipe makes about 9 servings, so increase your quantities accordingly to make enough for the whole gang.

Of course, while these coffee infused goodies are great for a Superbowl party they are also great for any gathering and sure do make a nice change from the same old chips and dip.
